The pineapple is a symbol of hospitality – of welcoming.  It can be found in many home decorations – especially vintage decorations from the southern states.  It is a charming way to show that guests are going to be received in a happy, welcoming way.

We do enjoy treating our guests to the best.  We get out our nice silverware and dishes.  We clean until the house sparkles.  We put on some nice music and our best attitude.

And all of that is really nice.  It is wonderful to show our friends and family that we care about them and want them to be happy.  But we can also do for ourselves in the same way.

We can get out the good stuff for ourselves too.  On a Monday – just because.  We can light a candle at dinner.  We can sparkle up our rooms just for us.  Just because it feels good.  We can treat ourselves by making ourselves a nice breakfast and really start the day off right.  Whatever we do for our guests, we can also do for ourselves.
