Having a backup list of things to do in case of boredom can be very helpful.  When we think we are bored we are more likely to allow ourselves to buy into other people’s drama – or even create drama ourselves.  When we are bored, we are more likely to feel down and to wallow in things that bother us.

Creating a backup list is simple.  First list all of the things you enjoy doing and places you enjoy going.  Then list things you would like to try and places you would like to visit.  Sort of like a bucket list.  Add to it as you think of new things and cross off the things you have done.  When you see a nearby festival or a new exhibit in the museum announced, put it on your calendar.  Doing new things teaches us a lot about ourselves.

Create your backup list today and put all of the things you look forward to doing on it.  Having something to look forward to can make a huge difference.
