The Odd One

Have you ever been the odd one in a group?  Have you ever looked or felt different than those around you?  I think most of us have been in some situation where we stick out a little – or a lot.  Maybe it is the color of our skin – maybe it is our abilities that make us different – maybe it is just the way we feel.

We are each unique, like snowflakes.  No one is exactly alike.  And that really is a wonderful thing about being human.  Without all of our differences, the world would be pretty boring.  With all of our differences, the world is a colorful, creative and amazing place to live.

The next time you see someone who does not look like everyone around him/her – give them a big smile (wouldn’t that have been nice when you were the odd one out?).  Start up a conversation with them.  We have so much to learn from others – especially those who are different than we are.  Just say hello.
