I started following what is happening at Standing Rock months ago. It interested me because I am an ancestor of Original Americans. It also interested me because I believe in saving our planet.
What I found was a passionate group of human beings all gathered to protect the water – to protect all of us. They are standing up for what they believe in; clean water. And they are doing it in a nonviolent, prayerful way. They are some of the best role models for standing up for what they believe in that I have ever encountered.
A lot has happened since I first started watching, but they have stayed the same. Prayerful and powerful. Even in the face of police brutality. Through pepper spray, vicious dogs, rubber bullets, Lrads, batons, arrests, insane charges and sky high bail, having their things and vehicles impounded, being kept in dog kennels and having numbers written on their arms – and I didn’t even begin to cover it there – they are still prayerful. They are still standing up for what they believe in.

I encourage you to take a stand for what you believe in.
