I live in an area that goes into a deep freeze in the winter.  It can be challenging to get out and many people are getting cabin fever.  But winter is not over and it can be easy to feel bored.

Here are some ways we can enjoy winter:

  • Start a new hobby – if you have never written a poem, painted a picture or tried your hand at photography, this is a great time to start.
  • Develop your culinary skills.  Find a new recipe or an old one you have not used in awhile.  Find a good stew or soup recipe – you will love the warmth and smells as you make it.
  • Feed the wildlife – the birds and small animals around will appreciate it and if you set the feeder outside of a window, you can get an up close and personal look at them too.
  • Send some thank you notes and inspiring notes to people you appreciate.  It is always a great time to express our gratitude.  Gratitude warms our insides.
  • Find a good exercise program and move.  There are lots of great programs on youtube if you do not already have a workout DVD.  This is a fantastic way to literally warm up.
  • Sort through closets, drawers and other nooks and crannies.  We can feel productive even when we cannot get out of the house.
  • Enjoy a warm beverage and be in the moment.  It is always a good time to meditate, to ground ourselves and to focus in on what we want.
  • Get cozy with a great book.  Learn something new or just entertain your brain.
