A great listener is non judgmental; a great listener does not criticize. A great listener does not take what you say personally. They are able to maintain a level of detachment while you talk. A great listener is quiet and does not tell you what you “should” or “should not” be doing. A good listener is a confidential listener. They keep what you tell them to themselves.
When was the last time you felt truly heard? Without judgment or criticism? It is a really big deal to feel listened to and accepted.
We can help others be good listeners by showing them how to do it. We can be a great listener and make a big difference for someone we care about.
Are you a great listener?
