When things are not looking as wonderful as we would like them to look – it can feel really challenging to have hope that they will get better. And it can feel nearly impossible to maintain our patience when time after time things just do not work out the way we want them to. When our lives feel out of kilter, unbalanced, unfair or just plain old disappointing – hope and patience can feel far, far away.
What can we do?
We can talk to ourselves in compassionate ways. We can comfort ourselves. We can choose to be compassionate towards ourselves and others.
We can breathe. We can quiet our minds and bodies and let our spirits have some time up front. It is amazing how our spirits know what we need; and know how to heal us when we get quiet and listen.
We can think about any new options and alternatives. We can keep our eyes open for new opportunities. We can reassure ourselves that we are completely capable of meeting any new challenges. We can get a new perspective and think about it in a whole new way.
We can make the best of it. We can dance in the rain. We can make lemonade out of lemons. We can find something to be grateful for – even when things do not look like we want them to.
If it is really and truly important, we can find the faith again. We can choose to keep going after it. Keep visualizing it. Keep sending loving energy toward it.
We can deeply understand that things change. Change is a constant in our lives. We can know that this too shall pass.
