Being optimistic is a choice we can make. When we are choosing to view life from a point of optimism, we wonder what wonderful thing is going to happen next. We fully embrace all of the things that happen in our lives as learning experiences.
When something good happens, an optimistic thinker will believe it is just another example of how great life is. An optimistic thinker will believe it will last and life will continue to be wondrous. When something good happens, an optimistic thinker will see that it is a result of work, patience and faith.
When something good happens to a pessimist, they often feel that it will not last – that it is just one thing that randomly happened. A pessimist will often think that good things are a result of good luck and can change at any time. When something less than loving happens to a pessimist, they often feel that it will last forever and that is just how life it. A pessimist will also often feel that whatever happened that they do not enjoy is all their fault.
When something less than loving happens to an optimist, they see it as simply a temporary thing. They may see it as just a small part of life, just a little hiccup. And an optimist will not take it personally. They understand that it will not last forever.
How we think is up to us. We can choose optimism or pessimism. We can choose to see all of the amazing opportunities life presents us with, or we can feel beat down by the process. Stop and consider the way you are perceiving things that happen in your life. Choose optimism as a way to think about everything.
