What Does Your Gut Say?

There is a woman I know who cannot drink any kind of carbonated beverage.  She has a stomach issue that makes her very ill whenever she does.  But before the doctor told her what was wrong, she drank a lot of soda.  She loved soda.  She knew it was making her feel bad after she drank it, but she continued to drink it anyway.

Until one day when her stomach hurt so badly it sent her to the hospital.  The doctor told her she would have to give up soda.  She felt devastated.  She loved everything about soda.  The way the bubbles tickled her nose, the way it tasted.  She did not know how she was going to give it up.  But she did.  And now she feels so much better.

How often do we do things even though we know they are bad for us?  What does it take to get us to stop?  Why do we not listen to our own gut?

Listen to yourself.  Listen to your body.  Listen to your heart.  You know what is best for you.  If something in your life feels wrong, explore it.  If you need to change it, change it.  You are perfectly capable of taking care of yourself.

I love to hear from you!
